02-21-2006 - Starting a New Season-Mike Garvey #51 Marathon "American Spirit Motor Oil" Chevrolet

The Competitive Edge Motorsports Marathon #51 Chevrolet team and driver Mike
Garvey are ready to get their season under way in California. The team is
excited about their enhanced product, with new bodies on the cars and a new
engine program with help from General Motors. "We've improved some things
over the winter to increase our efforts this year," said team owner Joe Auer
of Competitive Edge Motorsports. "Our bodies are better, engines are getting
where they need to be, and overall infrastructure is growing. Our goal is to
get into all 20 races we enter, and really become more competitive this
year."

This season should be another step forward for the Marathon Chevy.
After
testing 12th quickest in Las Vegas recently, Garvey and the team are
confident about California. "We have a strong car and team, and looking
forward to a good season, but we're focusing on growing with this young
team. Finishing races and working on the little things that make us better
are some of the things I'm looking forward to," said Garvey.

This season continues the new union between Garvey and Competitive Edge
Motorsports which began at the end of 2005. Garvey, who was in the race for
Rookie of the Year in 2005, is expected to bring driver experience and
leadership to the team. Looking toward the team's first race of 2006, Garvey
commented, "We are extremely appreciative of Marathon Petroleum Company,
General Motors, and Print Media for all their help this year."
