For Immediate Release - Ken Pelkie, SOS Public Relations

The "Joyceville Jet" became the first two time winner in Southern
Ontario Sprint action in 2006 with a convincing win at Brighton Speedway
Saturday night. The win vaulted Wilson to the top of the list of all
time feature winners within the series and came on one of his favourite
tracks. In victory lane, Wilson seemed surprised of his rise to the top
of the win list but it was the excitement in his voice when talking
about his daughter's involvement in the sport that overshadowed his own
accomplishment. "My daughter April is trying it out behind the wheel of
one of these cars and tonight was only her second time in racing
conditions" stated Wilson. "She is doing great although it will take a
little time as she is young, it sure is great to have her join Kyle and
me on the track".

Unusually cool temperatures once again greeted the SOS at Brighton for
round two of the "Sobey's" Series" but it didn't slow enthusiasm as yet
another record of twenty-eight cars filed into the pit. Three qualifying
heats and a "B" Main were run to set the twenty-four car field for the
twenty lap feature event.

Veteran's John Watson and Dick Mahoney paced the field as the green flag
waved with rookie's Brad Malloy and Joe Middlemiss making up the second
row. Malloy grabbed the early lead and led lap one as the caution waved
for John Riegling as he came to rest in turn two. Riegling restarted and
quickly joined the back of the field for the restart.

As the green flag reappeared, Malloy once again set the pace with Dick
Mahoney in tow. John Watson, Ken Swan, and Glenn Styres made up the top
five. Swan and Styres put Watson back to fifth on lap three and Styres
quickly disposed of Swan, Mahoney, and Malloy by the end of lap four to
take the lead. Meanwhile, Rick Wilson had worked his way to sixth from
his tenth place starting position and was clearly coming to the front.
By the end of lap six, Wilson had moved into second and challenging
Styres for the lead. The two ran side by side down the back stretch
before Wilson edged by to lead lap seven. As the two threaded their way
through lapped traffic, Kyle Patrick moved into third ahead of Malloy
and Mahoney when the caution appeared on lap nine for John Watson in
turn four.

With Watson rejoining the field, Wilson took command over Styres as the
green waved once again. Patrick looped his car in turn two on lap eleven
bringing out the caution again but with no damage, he was restarted as
the green waved once again.
Wilson and Styres set the pace while the competition heated up for third
place as the half way signal was given. Malloy, Swan and Bob Crawford
held down third through fifth with Warren Mahoney beginning to make a
move. Mahoney got Crawford on lap eleven and Swan and Malloy by lap
fourteen.

At the checkers it was Rick Wilson over Styres, Warren Mahoney, Malloy
and Swan completing the top five. Bob Crawford was sixth, Kyle Wilson,
Dick Mahoney, Kevin Job, and Joe Middlemiss rounded out the top ten.

Heat races were won by Dick Mahoney, Rick Wilson, and Kyle Patrick while
Rob Pietz claimed the "B" Main.

Next up will be a return trip to Humberstone Speedway Sunday, June 18th
where Rick Wilson took the win during the first of three visits to the
Port Colborne speed plant on May 21st. Action is scheduled to get
underway at 6:30 PM.
