Steve "Smokey" Robison smokes away competition at The New Humberstone Speedway and Dave Dykstra is crowned 2006 Sportsman Champion

Steve "Smokey" Robison claimed his first ever feature win in the Brians Tire Repair
Streetstock Division on Goit Haulage Night at The New Humberstone Speedway. Robison
in his 1R took the lead from Ron Kingsbury on lap 2 and, but had to fight off a
determined Paul Wichert. It looked like a tug of war for a few laps, with Wichert
and Robison exchanging the lead position, until Wichert broke along the front
stretch and had to retreat to the pits. From than on for Robison it was smooth
sailing. Shayne Pierce also had a great run managing to hold on to a 3rd place
finish, placing just behind last week's winner Cody McPherson. Top 5 were Steve
Robison, Cody McPherson, Shayne Pierce, Mike Dooley, and Kevin Knapp. (Heat Winners

The 2K of Rob Knapp claimed his 3rd feature win at The New Humberstone Speedway in
the Trails End Inc Sportsman Division. Knapp who had to fight off a very determined
Bill Bleich. Bleich in the 108 was 17 points behind Dave Dykstra in points for 1st
place and knew he was fighting for his chance at a first ever championship. But by
lap 7 Dykstra was right behind Bleich in 3rd not ready to hand over the championship
just yet. John Kaas also had a great run and ran up front the whole race and
completed the race in 4th place spot. Top 5 were Rob Knapp, Bill Bleich. Dave
Dykstra, John Kaas, Kenny Winfield (Heat Winners Dennis Giancola, Rob Knapp and Don
Spiece)

 

            The rookie driver Dave Guignard of the Niagara Auto Sales Pro 4 truck is
showing the other rookies exactly what steps it takes to become a
veteran, in just 4 months of racing Dave Guignard has won 3 races at
"The New Humberstone Speedway", he collected his 3rd win last night on
Goit Haulage night at the speedway. Guignard managed to hold off the 29
of Doug Banner from lap 7 on. Banner had heat from the 13 of Rob Anthes
who was trying to take away his 2nd spot. Banner was just a bit quicker
in the end and Anthes had to settle for third. Top 5 were Dave Guignard,
Doug Banner, Rob Anthes, Don Lessard, and Corey Bacon. (Heat Winner was
Dave Guignard)

 

            The Kendall Oil Ministock division seen a return of Charlie Lynch to the
winners circle. Lynch managed to "lynch" his 6th win this season,
holding off a very quick Abel Castelein that was trying to make up some
ground and take challenge Lynch for the lead. The 67Sof Dave Small and
the 6 of Trevor Goulding fighting it out for third spot a spot the 67S
would eventually take from Goulding. Top 5 were Charlie Lynch, Abel
Castelein, Dave Small, Trevor Goulding, and Rob Goulding. (Heat Winners
were Abel Castelein and Trevor Goulding)

We are pleased to announce that Dave Dykstra has been crowned the 2006 Sportsman
Champion tonight. A first ever Sportsman Championship for Dave. Dave started in the
sportsman class the 2005 season, he may not have had a win this year but he has been
very consistent by finishing up front most of the races.
